MISSION

Reclaiming Our Jazz future!

Save the JAZZ was founded in 2008 by Freddie Dunn and Koto Maesaka, both trumpet players and lovers of the music. The mission of Save the JAZZ is to foster an environment in which Jazz music can continue to grow and thrive and to encourage a new, enthusiastic audience to discover and embrace the music. We will do this by facilitating and sponsoring performances, workshops and panels, encouraging musical exchanges between artist in the U.S. and abroad, leveraging technology to broaden and deepen relationships between musicians, venues, and fans. We will use the SavetheJAZZ.org website to reach out to fans, artist, and students, and work to help promote local homegrown talent deserving of wider recognition.

Some of the activities we look forward to in the coming year:

  • The official launch of SavethJAZZ.org

  • Hosting a new bi-weekly top-caliber jam session

  • Interviews with area Jazz musicians

  • Spotlighting venues that are making the scene

  • A quarterly concert series with top local, national and international talent

  • The inaugural summer Jazz workshop

  • Our jazz in schools program

We hope to have a busy, jazzy year, and with your help we will!  Be sure to check out how you can be a part of these exciting activities.  Keep swingin’!
