SEPT 21 A rainy night in Brookland!

Thank you to everyone who participated in any capacity with helping to make the launch of the Brookland Jazz Series a success!  On the rainiest night in September local music enthusiasts were treated to a swinging set of Jazz classics from the catalog of Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter, Freddie Hubbard, Thelonius Monk and others.  Guest trombonist, Reginald Cyntje was featured on a scintillating rendition of the classic, "Body and Soul". The show was presented at the fabulous new Edgewood Arts Building and was the premier music event for the space.  Special thanks go out to our partners from Dance Place, Cultural DC, Save The JAZZ, the NEA, and DCCAH.

AUG 19 Exciting News!!

We've just confirmed that the stellar trombone recording artist Reginald Cyntje will appear as a guest with the Freddie Dunn Quartet as the opener for "One Night in Brookland", the 2nd installment of the Brookland Jazz Series!  Mr. Cyntje just released the popular and critically acclaimed "Love" CD, in follow-up to his 2011 debut, "Freedom's Children".  Both CDs truly capture classic jazz infused with the spirit and vibe of the carribean!  Be sure to have him sign your copy at the show!

AUG 5 Brookland Jazz-recap

Thank you to everyone who helped to make vol.1 of the Brookland Jazz Series an encouraging success!  The Freddie Dunn jazz quintet swung through a great set of new and old tunes to the thrill of an appreciative audience of all ages!  If you missed it, don't fret they'll do it again on Sep. 21st with the FDQ  along with another exciting band tba as part of the Brookland Family Day nite-cap!  Be there!!

JULY 26 Duly Noted-Painters

”We work paintings until they can no longer be advanced. We start with an object, figure, poetic reference, or a vision. From there the painting gets its roots and is born. Like a child we give it life, nurture it to the point where it starts to think and make decisions on its own. When it reaches the point where we can not help make it stronger then what it is, only then is it complete.”

Come out to the Brookland Jazz Series vol.1 and meet these ground-breaking artists.  Their joint work will be on display in the main gallery.  If we're lucky you might even get a peak at some of the resident artist's personal studios!

JULY 25 Sellman Gallery Sculpture!

The Brookland Artspace Loft's Sellman Gallery has a new and exciting sculpture exhibit opening this week!  With so many talented painters and visual artists in the building and neighborhood it is a rare treat to feature an exhibition of  three dimensional art!  Be sure to catch it before it goes bye-bye.  Big Thanks to Mia Feuer!
